“Dwelling on the Monterey Bay invites engagement with the protean dance of sky and water. My images are atmospheric - it is the ephemeral that I chase with ink veils layered on paper to create original prints.” Barbara Furbush’s eye seeks the quiet places in the hyper-dynamic air and ocean waters of Monterey Bay to produce works of uniquely engaging imagery, and seductively beautiful atmospheric content. Barbara opened the Atmos Press/Studio in 2012, moving to Mariposa Hall in 2018. Barbara Lee Furbush earned a BA from the University of Maryland in Art History & Studio Art. Moving West, she studied with Dick Swift and John Paul Jones (UCI) and received an MFA in Printmaking at California State University, Long Beach in 1985. Exhibiting regularly in Los Angeles for over 30 years, her works are found in public and private collections in Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Monterey. She is a member of the CSP (California Society of Printmakers), the MPC Printmakers, and WAM (Women Art Makers, Long Beach). Hartnell College Gallery is located in the Visual Arts Building ( Building J) on the West Alisal Street campus between Homestead Avenue and College Avenue. Admission to the Gallery is free and the public is welcome. Parking on the campus is $2. |
